I was getting bombarded with so much information — some of it true — about nutrition and the foods we eat. It was very confusing. Hearing that kale is good for you is one thing; remembering what exactly it’s good for is another.
I believe clarity comes out of confusion when data becomes information. So I started tracking my daily nutrition in a set of spreadsheets, filling them by scouring websites for data. With the arrival of AI, I could get more reliable data — and this app was born.
I use it every day to see what I’m eating too much of and what I’m short of. Usually around 4 PM I ask what I should eat for the rest of the day, and it suggests a food or a recipe I already like.
Friends who tried it found it useful and encouraged me to share it more widely. GapPlate is the result: free, private, and built around the plate you already have.
