This policy describes how the GapPlate Recipes website (the Recipes Market Place at gapplate.australians.com/recipes, “the website,” “we,” “our”) handles information. The GapPlate app has its own GapPlate Privacy Policy.
Browsing recipes
You can search, read, print and share recipes without an account and without giving us any personal information. Searches and the recipes you open are not linked to you.
Adding a recipe
When you add a recipe, from the website or from an app, we receive:
- the recipe name, ingredients and amounts, steps, cooked weight and an optional link;
- your name, only if you enter one and agree to show it with the recipe;
- your email address.
Every new or changed recipe is checked before it is published. The recipe is then public, with your name if you agreed to show it. “About you” text and links you add on My recipes are also public, after a check.
Your email address
Your email is never shown on the website and never shared or sold. We use it only to:
- confirm it is yours, the first time you share a recipe (the recipe waits until you click the link in our email);
- tell you when your recipe is live;
- let you sign in to My recipes, with a link we email you, to hide, show or delete your recipes.
Cookies and spam protection
Signing in to My recipes sets a cookie that keeps you signed in for a week. To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (one-way) form of your internet address for up to two days and limit how many recipes and sign-in emails can be sent. The recipe pages do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Where your information is stored
Recipes and contributor details are stored on our website, which is run by our hosting provider in secure data centres.
Recipes in the apps
Recipes shared on the website may be included in the built-in library of the GapPlate and EatAlyze apps (see the GapPlate Terms and Conditions, section 11). Only the recipe is included, never your email.
Nutrition and AI
Nutrition shown for a recipe is an estimate worked out from its ingredients, and some values may come from AI. AI can make mistakes. Recipes are checked for spam, not for accuracy or safety, so check the ingredients against your own allergies and diet, and talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making health decisions.
Your choices
You can hide, show or delete your recipes yourself on My recipes. To have your email and contributor details removed, contact us; recipes you shared are then removed or no longer linked to you.
Children
The website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
